William E. Evans
Founder and CEO
Bill Evans co-founded Evan-Moor Educational Publishers in 1979 with his sister, Joy Evans, and friend Jo Ellen Moore. As CEO, Evans has helped to build a highly successful company always focused on the mission of “helping children learn.” Before founding Evan-Moor, Evans worked as a speechwriter for the chancellor of Los Angeles Community Colleges and as Associate Professor of Journalism at East Los Angeles College, and he opened his own law office in Monterey, CA. His vast experience in public relations, journalism, mass media, and law has contributed to his successful leadership of Evan-Moor. In December 2005, Bill Evans was bestowed with the educational publishing industry’s highest honor—induction into the Association of Educational Publishers’ Hall of Fame.
Director of Customer Service
Anney Banales has managed Evan-Moor's Customer Service Department since 1995. Banales's background in retail sales management and buying, including school supply sales, has allowed her to contribute to Evan-Moor's tradition of a high level of customer satisfaction. During her time at Evan-Moor, Banales has developed strategies for efficient order processing, streamlined the work flow, and implemented various training efforts to ensure that a consistent level of service is offered to all Evan-Moor customers.
Cheryl Puckett oversees the creative design for all Evan-Moor products, marketing campaigns, and websites. Puckett joined the company in 1992 and has developed and preserved the Evan-Moor branding in more than 500 titles and across multiple channels, including international and domestic bookstores and direct-to-school segments. In her tenure at Evan-Moor, Puckett has been instrumental in launching comprehensive product lines, such as the Daily Practice series, Take It to Your Seat Centers, and TeacherFileBox.com, an online subscription resource for teachers.
David C. Miller
Director of Finance
Since joining Evan-Moor in 2007, CPA David Miller has taken over the management and direction of all financial responsibilities, including the supervision of purchasing, human resources, and legal activities. With more than two decades of fiscal experience in the education market at companies such as Gareth Stevens Inc. and Arthur Young & Company, Miller has contributed a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business development and profitability of Evan-Moor. Miller earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
David E. Sawyer
Director of Fulfillment and Facilities
Since joining the company in 2006, David Sawyer has used his vast knowledge and experience in warehouse management, fulfillment, and distribution to ensure smooth operations at Evan-Moor. Currently, he oversees the daily operation of the fulfillment center, including order packing and inventory management, and manages the maintenance of both the corporate headquarters and the fulfillment warehouse. In this supervisory role, Sawyer draws upon his 25 years of related experience that spans systems automation, facility layout and design, order fulfillment, inventory control, and receiving.
Director of Technology Products
Keli Winters joined Evan-Moor's product development team in 1998 as a desktop designer, moving on to serve as the Director of Production for eight years. In her current role, Winters has worked to establish Evan-Moor's technology vision for the future, focusing on developing product for traditional, blended, and online classrooms. In this role, she oversees technology integration with print product, as well as the development of stand-alone technology product and new methodologies for product delivery. Winters holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts with a concentration in 3-D design from the University of Arizona.
Lisa Vitarisi Mathews
Lisa Mathews serves as Executive Editor of Evan-Moor Educational Publishers. In this role, Mathews oversees the publishing of materials through all stages of development, from conceptualizing and planning to production. Since joining Evan-Moor in 2002, Mathews has represented the company in the United States and abroad, giving workshops and product training, and learning how teachers use Evan-Moor resources. Her previous experience in working with students in grades K–8 and her keen knowledge of what works in classrooms to enhance both teaching and learning have shaped Evan-Moor’s positive contribution to educational publishing.
Director of Production
As Director of Production for Evan-Moor, Susan Lovell supervises the production department in the planning, design, development, and workflow of every Evan-Moor book. Lovell joined Evan-Moor in 2007, bringing a wealth of production and design experience, which included serving as Creative Director and a production artist, and running her own design business for many years. Lovell studied mass communications and graphic design, earning her BS from Middle Tennessee State University.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Trisha Thomas rejoined Evan-Moor in 2011 and leads the company’s integrated marketing and sales efforts, including developing a direct-to-school inside sales team and overseeing domestic and international retail and licensing, and all direct response efforts. While previously serving as Director of Marketing for Evan-Moor for six years, Thomas played an integral role in launching TeacherFileBox.com, an online subscription resource for teachers, and in expanding the company’s outreach via direct marketing channels. Thomas’s more than 15 years of strategic marketing experience includes brand awareness, lead generation, and direct marketing campaigns for eInstruction and Discovery Education. Thomas earned her BA in business management and marketing from University of Maryland, and her MBA from the Johns Hopkins University–Carey Business School.
