Help your ELLs develop oral language skills and learn theme-based vocabulary in context of their own school experience. Students learn and practice more than 80 vocabulary words and phrases presented in interactive activities that reflect five familiar school scenes—the classroom, office, library, playground, and cafeteria.

The interactive, teacher-led, and self-directed activities support all four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Digital and audio features, including record-and-replay functions, further maximize language learning!
  • This resource is ideal for English language teachers who have newcomers and students at the beginning or early-intermediate language levels.
  • Interactive components can be presented on a classroom projection system or computer for whole-class, small-group, or independent instruction.
  • App activities can be assigned to individual students. (Not yet available for the iPad.)
How It Works: Using the interactive app, accompanying print materials, and the pacing guide, a teacher leads students through sessions following this teaching path:
  • 30- to 60-minute sessions of direct instruction and independent practice to introduce and build vocabulary for each school scene
  • additional activities to apply the vocabulary, including three app games, an interactive story that can be translated into other languages, chants and a song with audio support, picture card games, and written activities
  • assessment activities that evaluate listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills
In At School, students learn more than 80 school-related vocabulary words and action phrases such as:
  • students, principal, librarian
  • coloring, talking, standing in line
  • chair, pencil, whiteboard
  • clock, computer, desk
  • books, bookshelves, globe
  • ball, bathrooms, bench
 Supporting print materials include:
  • a teacher’s resource book with a skills chart, pacing guide, reproducible student activities, and assessment scripts and activities
  • 5 full-color student books with a picture dictionary
  • a full-color 17" x 22" poster
  • 48 full-color picture cards, 4" x 3 ½"
