Founder and CEO

Bill Evans co-founded Evan-Moor Educational Publishers in 1979 with his sister, Joy Evans, and friend Jo Ellen Moore. As CEO, Bill has helped to build a highly successful company always focused on the mission of “helping children learn.”
 
Under Bill’s leadership, Evan-Moor has grown from publishing supplemental print materials to developing a wide range of digital instructional materials. Today, Evan-Moor’s print and digital resources are used in more than 1 million U.S. classrooms and in 90 countries.
 
Before founding Evan-Moor, Bill worked as a speechwriter for the chancellor of Los Angeles Community Colleges and as Associate Professor of Journalism at East Los Angeles College. He also opened his own law office in Monterey, CA. His experience in public relations, journalism, mass media, and law has contributed to his successful leadership of Evan-Moor. In December 2005, Bill Evans was bestowed with the educational publishing industry’s highest honor—induction into the Association of Educational Publishers’ Hall of Fame.


Trisha Thomas

Trisha Thomas
Chief Marketing Officer

An award-winning marketer with over 15 years of experience, Trisha Thomas serves as Evan-Moor’s Chief Marketing Officer. Evan-Moor is a global leader in supplemental educational materials for PreK–8th grade with the mission of “helping children learn.” In her current role, Trisha leads the development and execution of marketing initiatives that support educators who have various types of learners, optimizing a student’s ability to learn. She manages a team that promotes effective resources for educators, including daily practice and digital resources that help teachers differentiate instruction and provide formative assessments.

Previously, Trisha served as Director of Marketing for eInstruction. Prior to that, Trisha served as Director of Marketing for Evan-Moor and as Marketing Manager for Discovery Education. Trisha’s marketing leadership has been recognized with a Daytime Emmy Award for the Discovery Channel (2003–2004) and Rising Star Marketing Award (QED, 2005). She currently serves as Co-Chair on the American Association of Publishers (AAP) Planning Committee. Trisha earned her BA in business management and marketing from the University of Maryland and her MBA from the Johns Hopkins University–Carey Business School.


James F. O'Donnell III

James F. O'Donnell III
Vice President of Sales

Bringing impressive experience with major retailers across the country, Jim O'Donnell now leads Evan-Moor's sales in the mass market, trade marketing, and educational retailer market. Jim will help to increase Evan-Moor's presence in these markets and help to build mutually beneficial relationships with both mass market retailers and teacher stores.

Jim has over 25 years of sales experience, most recently serving as Director of Mass Market Sales for Parragon Books LTD. At Parragon, Jim managed and grew business with a variety of retailers, including Walmart, Toys R Us, Kmart, Rite Aid, and Kroger—and worked with key distributors such as Readerlink and ANConnect. His innovation and leadership produced significant growth in sales.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Northern Illinois University.


Lisa Vitarisi Mathews

Lisa Vitarisi Mathews
Executive Editor

Lisa Mathews serves as Executive Editor of Evan-Moor Educational Publishers. In this role, Mathews oversees the publishing of materials through all stages of development, from conceptualizing and planning to production. Since joining Evan-Moor in 2002, Mathews has represented the company in the United States and abroad, giving workshops and product training, and learning how teachers use Evan-Moor resources. Her previous experience in working with students in grades K–8 and her keen knowledge of what works in classrooms to enhance both teaching and learning have shaped Evan-Moor’s positive contribution to educational publishing. 


Keli Winters

Keli Winters
Director of Technology Products

Keli Winters joined Evan-Moor's product development team in 1998 as a desktop designer, moving on to serve as the Director of Production for eight years. In her current role, Winters has worked to establish Evan-Moor's technology vision for the future, focusing on developing product for traditional, blended, and online classrooms. In this role, she oversees technology integration with print product, as well as the development of stand-alone technology product and new methodologies for product delivery. Winters holds a bachelor's degree in fine art with a concentration in 3-D design from the University of Arizona.


Anney Banales Anney Banales
Director of Operations & Fulfillment

Anney Banales has managed Evan-Moor's Customer Service Department since 1995. Banales's background in retail sales management and buying, including school supply sales, has allowed her to contribute to Evan-Moor's tradition of a high level of customer satisfaction. During her time at Evan-Moor, Banales has developed strategies for efficient order processing, streamlined the work flow, and implemented various training efforts to ensure that a consistent level of service is offered to all Evan-Moor customers.


David C. Miller

David C. Miller
Director of Finance

Since joining Evan-Moor in 2007, CPA David Miller has taken over the management and direction of all financial responsibilities, including the supervision of purchasing, human resources, and legal activities. With more than two decades of fiscal experience in the education market at companies such as Gareth Stevens Inc. and Arthur Young & Company, Miller has contributed a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business development and profitability of Evan-Moor. Miller earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
