Two New Teaching Resources Provide Early Learners with Comprehensive and Creative Alphabet Practice
Thanks to Evan-Moor's revised 'Jumbo Fun with the Alphabet' and all new 'Alphabet Puppets, teaching the ABCs has never been more effective, easy, or fun!
MONTEREY, CALIF. (April 8, 2009) -Whoever coined the phrase "as easy as ABC" obviously never faced a classroom of students who need to learn the alphabet. Sure, from a distance it may seem simple, but helping children learn their ABCs can be just as daunting as explaining nuclear fusion or the philosophy behind a free market economy. That's why Evan-Moor Educational Publishers is proud to introduce two fantastic new resources for teaching letter names and sounds—Jumbo Fun with the Alphabet and Alphabet Puppets.
The fun, full-color puppets in Alphabet Puppets combine with the reproducible activities and practice in Jumbo Fun with the Alphabet to create a powerful, comprehensive resource to help students develop important reading readiness skills such as alphabetic awareness, phonemic awareness, and visual discrimination. From Andy the Ant to Zippy the Zebra, both books use the same engaging alphabet animals to introduce students to each of the 26 letters of the alphabet.
If Pinky the Pig and Tootie the Turtle sound a little silly to you, that's probably because they are. But that's precisely why they're so effective.
"Students, especially early learners, aren't going to learn unless they're truly engaged in what they're doing," says Evan-Moor publisher and co-founder Joy Evans. "What I love most about these two new books is that the animal characters not only help students develop strong letter/sound relationships, but they're also just plain fun."
The 200-plus pages of engaging activities in the revised Jumbo Fun with the Alphabet help students see, hear, say, and write the 26 letters of the alphabet. For example, students are introduced to the letter s while drawing a picture of a skunk, practice writing the letter j while tracing letters and completing a dot-to-dot of a jet, and learn about the letter x while creating a 3D art project of a fox.
When combined with the full-color animal puppets, alphabet picture cards, and motivating games and activities in Alphabet Puppets, it's a sure-fire way to develop the reading readiness skills all students need before beginning a formal reading program.
Available now, Jumbo Fun with the Alphabet contains 224 reproducible pages priced at $19.99, and Alphabet Puppets features 224 full-color pages priced at $24.99.
