Available January 1, 2007, word-family practice assists students in recognizing familiar parts of words and builds a rich reading vocabulary. Word Family Games: Centers for Up to 6 Players, and Word Family Stories and Activities are correlated to state standards.

Students look forward to learning with the award-winning Evan Moor Centers. In the new Word FamilyGames:Centers for Up to Six Players, groups of two to six students play colorful board games that provide word recognition and vocabulary review. Each of the four leveled books in this series contains seven games covering a total of 16 word families. Each game has two reproducible activity pages that provide additional practice using the word families in context - great for informal skill assessment. Each game board includes a picture dictionary with visual clues, especially valuable for English language learners. Games increase in level of difficulty so teachers can choose the level(s) their students need.

For small group or individual study, each of the four books in Word Family Stories and Activities books include illustrated, reproducible, one-page stories followed by activity pages that help students build comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, and fluency skills. A picture dictionary introduces the word family, providing the visual clues for beginning readers and ELL students. Reproducible word list sliders encourage repeated practice of the word families, leading to increased oral reading fluency. Sixteen word families are presented in each of the four leveled books, with difficulty levels increasing from one level to the next. Teachers can choose the appropriate entry level for their students and students can work independently once they understand the format.
